I bought a bearded dragon about two days ago, and I have only seen him eat about six crickets in front of him. I drop around 10-15 crickets two times a day. I have a 100 gallon tank with a basking spot at around 100-105 degrees. Maybe the tank is too big for him to find the crickets? He very lively and he ate a little bit of lettuce the first day I got him. He’s been pooping too. I’m just worried that he’s not eating as much he’s suppose to. If anyone could let me know what’s going on that would be great.

They usally only eat 15 a day. So I wouldn’t put so many in

As long as he does have an appetite I think he is okay. Probably will take some time for him to get used to his new home. Also I wouldn’t feed him lettuce, it isn’t very nutritional. Instead try kale, okra, bok choy, and dandelion leaves (from the grocery store).

Also make sure your tank temps are correct! Here is a chart to help with that. If they are too high/low they won’t have as big of an appetite.

Hey number one your little guy is so cute. I had a similar problem with my beardie he was in a 50 gallon when he was only a month old and large tanks can stress them out especially when their suppose to be in like a 20 gallon. They grow quickly so its not the end of the world plus its cheaper. I found out what helped a lot was to feed him out of the tank in a small storage bin. that gives him a little bit to more around but not to much. So if he's like 6 inches so something that is 8-10 inches long is perfect. They should also be feed around 2-3 times a day at that age and can and should eat around 50-100 crickets a day. At that age all the food they eat goes into growing so you don't have to worry about them getting fat. It also gives you a more chances to bond with him.
