New to the forum. We just got Picasso one week ago. We set him up in a bioactive setup with live plants.

He's cute!! You'd be better off replacing that red light with a bright white one, though. You have options as far as bulb type, you just need it to have enough heat, and non-colored light. Some people use the ones marketed for reptiles, some use household halogen bulbs, some use indoor/outdoor halogen floods (PAR38, PAR30, etc), and some pair them with dimming thermostats for temp comtrol. :0)

I am going to give a CHE a try, in place of the red infrared heat lamp, as I mentioned in the other post. I bought a thermostat, but didn't need to use it with the infrared lights. I'll give the thermostat a try with the CHE.

There seems to be a lot of contradicting opinions on lighting. Its tough on a newbie trying to get the best setup for the bearded dragon.

Agreed! And it's compounded by bad kits/advice from (usually corporate) pet shops. I think you'll be happy with the che and thermostat. It's nice to have the extra control that provides.

Got a CHE and it is working out fine.
