Why can’t I just get the T5 without changing the hood?

T 5 bulbs will not fit a T 8 fixture -- T 8's are a fatter bulb and T 5's are skinny -- they have different expiration times as well

Does the fixture have a reflector in it --- looks like piece of aluminum shiny behind the bulb?

Well it looks like This. All of it is aluminum

it does not look like there is a reflector in there --- you want a fixture w/ a reflector -- it directs the UVB rays downward towards him -- this is really important for your dragons health -- w/ out it the UVB rays are going all over that tank -- this fixture you have looks like it is one from a hardware store -- they do not work

Yes Arcadia is really good I can't get the pics to come up on my dumb phone but you want the Arcadia 12% bulb 36" length
