Is this tail rot?

I scheduled a vet appointment for Spook next Thursday but am worried this could potentially be tail rot and needs more emergent care. I noticed a kink in his tail yesterday. It looks to me like a break but I am worried it could possibly be tail rot. Please let me know what you think. Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot! I just noticed it was a different color too. I was hoping it is just future shed. I made him an appointment to get the kink looked at . Thanks a lot.
