Doug’s New Enclosure

We have the whole new setup for Dougaloo... got his temps and lighting right, and I built a new hide for him that will have plenty of room as he grows.

The enclosure is 4x2x2, UVB T8 24” tube light and 75 watt heat light keeps his basking spot between 100-110. I used Zoo Med excavator clay to build the hide. I live in Georgia though, and the clay sure does remind me of what I have in my back yard .

Except.... he has NEVER expressed interest in a hide. I suppose he’s fearless and has no worries? Or maybe a bit of a doofus? Either way, we love him and just want him to feel happy. I put a wash cloth inside the hide, hoping he will check it out and maybe snuggle. Any other suggestions? Does anyone else’s dragon prefer snoozing out in the open?

He may choose to use the hide occasionally, but yes, mine sleeps in the open most of the time. :0)

Sway is funny about sleeping inside anything. I bought him a hammock and I think it’s his favorite spot he even sleeps on it with his fleece blanket, they love anything soft. I guess it just depends on the dragon some prefer sleeping in a hide and some sleep out in the open.

Aw, I should get my guy a fleece blanket. And a new hammock that doesn’t use suction cups... he loved his hammock in his little 20 gallon.

Yea my guy loves it. It’s his favorite place to lounge and sleep. And yes they love fleece. Good Luck with him he’s adorable!
