Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a new CHE for baby beardie, Doris. I know many people here use CHE’s so hoping to gather some options in bulbs and clamp others have like/had good success with.

For reference, I am looking to keep her basking spot around 104 (and the terrarium is 55 gal).

Also attached a gratuitous Doris photo.

Thanks in advance!

A CHE should be used for nighttime heating. You don't need the tank to be real hot at night. In fact they need a cool down period to rest their bodies and brains. The tank should be 65-70 at night.

What do you recommend for during the day. My current lighting is only getting up to 100-102 in the basking spot. (60 gallon terrarium)

You could get a high watt bulb and put it on a dimmer.

Pretty baby! How far is it from the basking spot? 150 watt should be plenty warm.

150watt should be sufficient. What are you measuring your temps with?

I have thermometer in the enclosure and a temp gun (but buying a new temp gun because I think mine is off).

It does sound like your gun might be off. 150watts with a basking spot 6-8 inches away should be plenty warm.
