The 5.0 is equivalent to a T8 I have used them in smaller tanks like 20 gallon and they have provided plenty of UVB --- this comes from a person who is a vet tech and experienced people who have had bearded dragons for over 20 years -- I am going to take their word over yours -- 5.0's are mainly used for aquarium use but can be used for reptiles as long as the distance correct and no cover over the bulb

I do agree that the 5.0 be changed out to the 10.0 bulb as soon as they can but it still can be used -

No; the 5.0 emits little to NO Uvb; and u cannot tell people to buy an addtl lamp it’s only the ZooMed basking bulb for heat & the Reptisun 10.0 T5 which brightens the tank & gives UVB. Reptisun needs to cover 70 prcnt of the tank. Thats it.

I dont know what your talking about ----when buying a Zoo Med 24 " fixture it comes w/ a 5.0 bulb look at the box - I tell people to buy the extra bulb the Rep 10.0 T 5 bulb so they can swap it out --- and I never tell them to buy the 70% length -- a 24" fixture is plenty for a 40+ gallon tank -- you dont want a dragon hiding from the UVB --- I
