Just curious if anyone has an idea of what food items store the best. I normally feed George staples like collard greens, with the occasional offerings of a few fruits and feeders like horned worms or crickets once or twice a week. I would buy more but some of the stuff that he would like, no one in the house will really eat. I don't want to buy things that will go to waste. Any suggestions?

I just started having a bit more of variety of greens in the fridge. Didn't take long and they became people food too! :)

Julie I use the bags of mixed salads from Asda/Tesco etc. I just make sure there is no Spinach or Iceberg in them - I usually go for the French, Italian or Herb mixes they the ones my guys like best.

That shoul be ok Julie, The bags of the herb/italian not expensive tho, the biggest bag only £1.50, like Lizardlover says just make sure there no Iceberg & Cabbage in the ones you get.
@Lizardlover mine love anything bright coloured rather than just 'Green' think they look at the green and think thats healthy - not eating it he he. Give them peppers, strawbs, rasps, butternut, sweet potato, anything with a bit of colour and they wolf it down :)

The bags I buy dont have any cabbage in them, I had given them the cabbage once or twice when we got ours and they dont like it anyway. If you go by the list you wont go far wrong. The cabbage can stop them absorbing the calcium which is why I now steer clear, but also why they say on the list it's ok occasionally. The food list is compiled by a well known breader.
When we get ours we tried almost everything we could get here in the uk from the lists to see what ours liked and didnt like, it's a constant learning experience.
Sorry if all the info we giving you is a bit confusing.

Hiya Julie the bags I get are the Asda Fresh Tastes Herb Salad, Italian Style or French Style Salad Bags. They are only £1 each for the 120g bag which usually does my 6 2 days per bag. I add to it with other bits & pieces depending what I got in the house or whats on special that they like. They love Banana and strawberries, they also like peppers too. Mine seem to like anything that got colour to it, if it just 'green' they can take it or leave it lol.

I'm in West Yorkshire area. Charlie liked he butterworms but I think he wouldnt of been bothered if I hadnt got them.lol. Also found he prefers the 'silent' (or not so silent!! Had a batch of them being noisy!!) brown crickets more than the black ones..

if I was you I wouldn't buy the black crickets much isn't known about the black cricket and from what I Have read about them that much of the black cricket is not digestible they don't even have nutrition chart for them.
