Whats with all these annoying adverts that keep appearing in the forum? they are all posted by different people, has the site been hacked?

We seem to get hit with spam in the middle of the night. When I get up in the morning I delete it all. I asked the page owner and it seems that the only way to avoid it is if we manually approve each member before they can post. That doesn't seem feasible since sometimes people have urgent questions and in the wait for someone to approve their membership, the dragon could suffer.

Yep we do our best to get to all the spam as quickly as we can.. First thing I do each morning..

Spam bots. Highly annoying having to deal with them. I'm a mod over at the AquariaCentral.com forum and we had a very long-running issue with them there, as well.

what surprises me is how many forum members look at them, that's how fiendish they are. At least it seems to be harmless stuff, i guess it could be worse. It is annoying though....

I am surprised too at how many people look at them! Any thread title that starts with HTTP is going to be spam.

One morning I we got hit with Japanese porn sites, pictures were included, even had profile pictures!

Ultimately upgraded the forum (xenforo). For months (maybe a couple yrs) it was ban and delete, rinse and repeat. I got pretty proficient at it!
