That is the question!
When I bought my setup, I got outback desert bedding. Its a clay soil mix, I thought it would be a perfect bedding being true to their natural environment. Its good, easy to spot clean and a good insulator, however, I can now see the disadvantages after a couple of weeks. Insects, desperate to get away from ma wee beasties tend to dig into it and push their way underneath the decor and I can see the potential for bacterial growth etc. So I thought to heck with it, and ordered some repticarpet especially as I now have a second viv set up. Lulu will be moving into it today when the carpet arrives.
The problem is I've noticed that Percy really seems to like that soil. When he goes to bed he digs himself a little pit under the edge of his cork arch or under his crocodile skull to sleep in. He is really good at hiding himself, I have a hard time spotting him sometimes. Lulu doesn't care, she just falls asleep wherever she is when the light go off. But would I be depriving Percy of much needed security if he suddenly cant dig his little sleeping pits anymore?. should I provide more cover for him to sleep under, some leaves of some kind or something?
