When I first got Heihei 3 months ago, she had a healed nipped tail with a small kink. As she is growing, the kink is getting more pronounced and the end of her tail seems to be getting darker. There is no open wound. She recently shed (second full shed since we got her) and her tail shed fine, but I am still worried about her, does this look like something I should have a vet look like or am I being an overly paranoid new beardie mama?

The kink is going to look worse as it grows. Luci has a kink in his tail that is more pronounced as his tail has gotten bigger. As far as the darkening, their tails do tend to get darker near the tip, it doesn't look like tail rot to me but if you are worried, I would have a vet look at it.

Since this is already a post about tail rot, hope y'all don't mind if I jump in and ask a question.

My girls whole body pretty much changed colors about two weeks ago, and i knew a shed was coming. But the end of her tail got pretty dark and Ive never seen that happen before. So of course tail rot has been in the back of my mind because I have paranoid beardie mom syndrome. Poor girl is finally almost finished with a full body shed. Ive been keeping a close eye on the tail and it hasn't gotten worse at all, even the tip of her tail is definitely still alive, she can move it and everything, and the underside of it looks perfectly normal. Its just the top skin thats darker. So i think everything okay but I am still thrown off by the sudden color change. Anyone have an explanation for that? Are there any big warning signs of tail rot besides the tail going dark?

With tailrot the tail usually starts to shrivel.
