Hello everyone,
I was feeding my beardie dubias and they like to sit in the egg crates so i give it a shake and some of the water crystals came out and onto his dish. Will he be okay? I am really concerned because i never encountered this until today :(

Im sure it will be fine. If your dubias ingest them then your dragon does too when it eats them. If you gut load your feeders with fresh veg they should get plenty of water from that, not sure those water crystals are necessary. Even a piece of wet sponge in your bug bin would do if you dont think they get enough water

Thank you so much, least i feel somewhat relieved. I was stressing out majorly. I saw those in there im like OMG noo please dont eat and then he ate one so i just picked him up and away from it to get the others. I will be throwing the insect dew drops out and using fresh veggies. Safer and more nutritious.

I wouldn't do sponges as they quickly harbor bacteria if not cleaned all the time.. I use polymer crystals in my dubia bins ...what I would be more worried about is was the crystal expanded? if not it will expand in the belly but it should pass ok..

Just keep an eye on your dragon and make sure he is pooping okay. My concern too is that they expand when wet but I would think t would be soft enough to pass.

Hey guys an update hes been pooping regularly seems to be having normal behavior. Basking, head raised and alert, showing his bright colors. I just gave him plenty of warm baths in hopes that would help him go poo. Also, i gave him fresh collard greens and some endives. He LOVES collard greens so much he almost jumped out of his terrarium. I think he is doing much better. I think when he went in the bath he just had bad gas and it seem to be loose diarrhea but other than that i think he is doing fine. A CLOSE WARNING but never again will i ever use those water crystals. Is it just possible to offer fresh greens/veggies/carrots and lightly mist the feeder enclosure? Just want to make sure the next time he will not ingest anymore water crystals and take more of a safer route. Thanks guys! :)

I also experimented with the water gel and it did break apart when squeezed tightly.

I wouldn't mist the feeder tub that will just cause mold and that will kill off your feeders. I always offer my feeders water crystals, veggies, and dry chow as they really do need a "water" source..I would just be aware and not have your little one out where he can jump into the tub again.. but I wouldn't use those beads and go for more normal water polymer crystal as they break up better I use the crystals you can get at lowes or home depot they are miracle grow crystals you find in the garden center just make sure they don't have any weird stuff in them..and these ones are much smaller once re hydrated..
