Hey, been doing some research into water in the viv seems as I haven't seem my dragon drinking and I came across a lot of people who spray and bath their dragons, I have seen the bathing before, but would just like some advice, I got my beardie from my local pet store where she had a bowl of water their so i have included one in her new viv, she is settling in and its her 3rd day here and i haven't seen her drink anything yet, I was just wondering should i bath or mist her, and if so how do i go about doing this :) thank you

Water bowls aren't necessary, in my opinion. Dragons get the moisture they need from their diet, greens, bugs, etc. Baths are recommended a couple times a week to help insure hydration.

Both of my beardies have water bowls in both of their vivs. I have seen both of them use them, Midna more than Yaddle though, lol. Midna really loves hers. I'll see her swim around in it sometimes. Here's a video of her swimming in her water bowl...
Hope you enjoyed :)

i only have a bowl in my youngests tank as she loves it, she sits in it all the time like its her throne lol, i agree with the above, bath a few times a week, make the water temp the same as u would for a baby, also, mist him every day, but dont mist him inside his enclosure as it was raise humidity in the tank wich causes allsorts of unwanted bacteria, also i only make the water deep enough so that it covers thier legs and belly, i dont go over the shoulders, hope this helps :)

Mine goes long periods without drinking, and then gorges like he's about to die. Lol. He won't drink out of his water dish (or swim in it, but I keep it in there anyway just in case he changes his mind one day), but likes it when I spray water on the glass. He watches it drip until it's about to hit the floor and then licks it up. Only when he wants it. Otherwise, he just looks at me like I'm crazy.

Water dishes that are not used & particularly misting the enclosure sides, just raises the enclosure humidity unnecessarily. If you want to mist something, mist the BD itself with room temp water, nose to tip of tail, outside of the enclosure, it will lick the droplets off of it's nose. Moistening Items in an enclosure unnecessarily can lead to bacteria & mold thriving.

I have hydrometers in three places, and the humidity is fine. The water from the misting evaporates so quickly I don't think it makes a difference. And I only mist when I'm giving him a drink, not all the time. Queso doesn't like to be misted. One squirt and he runs away. Lol. I mist him in the bath, too, to get him to drink. In the enclosure, he likes to lick water off of something. I also have a rock that has some grooves where he'll lick water out of if I spray the rock. We have a good system going.

Although our beardies don't typicaly drink water as natually there water intake comes through correct husbandry with live food here in the UK it is a legal requirement for there to b a supply of fresh water availible. But for my own info do they actually drink? My herp vet told me to take mine in to him If I see them drinking. Is this a way for him to make money?

@ WaterfordOleary17: It is rare for a BD to drink from a bowl, as they don't seem to recognize standing water. But there are the odd few that will & do. None of mine would drink from a dish in the enclosure, but, most of them will drink in the bath. I surely do not understand why seeing a BD drink would be a viable reason to for a vet to command a visit. I'm thinking that you may very well be right, with your last statement. A very strange & questionable request.

Bearded dragons do not need water. They get all the liqiuds they need in their greens. But what I usually do is I soak the greens ( romaine lettice, collard greens and so on) in water before i put it in their dish. I still recommened having a water bowel with clean water daily. If your bearded dragon has shunken eyes that means he his dehydraded. And I would than put your bearded dragon in a tub with shallow warm water. But if you do not see any improvments he/she needs to go to a vet. Good luck.

That is so adorable! My dragons will both soak themselves when they want to and drink as well. Now I just wish I had a bigger water dish in Cleo's tank. Of course, I live in a dessert climate, so humidity is not an issue.
